Bayern Munich allowed a late equaliser, resulting in a 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Sunday. Despite being caught on the counter three times, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance. Bayern have now gone three matches without a win across all competitions, following last week’s home draw with Bayer Leverkusen in the league and their midweek Champions League defeat at Aston Villa.

“This was a challenging match against a team that was second in the Bundesliga before we played,” Kompany stated during a press conference after the points were shared in Frankfurt. “When I observe how the team worked and supported each other, it represents a positive performance. Our results are what we are judged by, but my role is to assess how we perform against some of Germany’s top teams and continue to improve. If we carry on like this, we will secure many victories,” Kompany concluded.

Bayern started strongly, securing an early lead before Eintracht responded with two goals to take a 2-1 advantage. The visitors ramped up their efforts, regaining a 3-2 lead with strikes from Dayot Upamecano and Michael Olise. However, Omar Marmoush equalised late for Eintracht with his second goal. All three of Eintracht’s goals resulted from swift counter-attacks that caught Bayern’s defence unprepared. “I cannot say I am not proud of the team considering our approach to the game,” remarked Kompany. “I know there will be focus on the three goals conceded, but improvement is a gradual process.” The coach, in his debut season with Bayern, added, “While not everything is perfect, I must concentrate on our accomplishments.”

The Bavarians sit atop the table with 14 points, leading on goal difference over RB Leipzig, who won 1-0 against Heidenheim earlier on Sunday. Eintracht occupies third place with 13 points.
