The historic Fortini in Birgu served as the backdrop for THE ARENA PROMOTIONS’ most recent combat sports event, “UNDER SIEGE,” which featured 21 bouts—11 international and 10 national. The event highlighted the continued rise of Malta’s presence in the combat sports scene.
Maltese fighters showcased a dominant performance, winning 10 out of the 11 international matches. All three international titles contested on the night were also won by local athletes, marking a significant achievement for the sport in Malta.
Promoter and matchmaker Simon Chetcuti expressed his satisfaction with the evening’s level of competition, noting that the bouts were closely matched and provided thrilling entertainment. He also stated that the athletes’ professionalism and determination were a source of pride for the organizers.
Boxing highlights included Marsil Abdilla’s Arena national title win, along with international title victories by Lydon Xuereb and Aidan Vassallo. In kickboxing and MMA, Blake Theuma claimed the WKA title, while Mariah Baldacchino, Matteo Vella, and Jean Mikil were among the other standout performers.
