The basketball club Real Madrid found itself in a serious financial problem during the previous year, although it decorated the season with the prestigious Euroleague cup. Madrid lost a whopping 27.8 million euros, mostly “thanks” to winning the title of champion of the Old Continent.
Bonuses paid to players after great success emptied the royal club’s coffers. It is interesting that this kind of situation happened in the year when the Madrid players broke their personal income record, reports “2playbook” in a detailed report.
Real’s normal and expected income is about 22 million euros, but in this case it was not enough to cover all the expenses. The income is growing from year to year, but it is still very far from achieving a positive balance sheet or at least zero.
On the previous two occasions when they managed to win the European title, the Spaniards lost 28.9 million euros (2017/18) and 27.9 million euros (2014/15).
