Last February, the Malta Motorsport Federation (MMF) announced that the International Automobile Federation (FIA), through its World Motor Sport Council (WMSC), elected President Duncan Micallef as Chairman of the 2024-25 FIA Drag Racing Commission and a member of the Circuit Sport Committee.
The MMF is now announcing that while President Micallef appreciated the trust and support from the FIA members in appointing him as Chairman of the 2024-25 FIA Drag Racing Commission and a member of the Circuit Sport Committee following further consideration, President Micallef, the 2017 FIA European Top Fuel Champion, who was crowned ‘Sportsperson of the Year’ in Malta for 2016 and 2017, decided to continue his racing career in 2024.
Therefore, it has jointly been decided that Micallef should instead assume the position of Driver’s Representative on the same commission. Micallef accepted this prestigious role that comes with voting rights.
President Micallef’s next engagement as a Top Fuel Racing Driver is scheduled for the first week of May at Santa Pod Raceway in the United Kingdom.
