Xavier Rizzo’s run in the Junior World Snooker Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria, has come to an end after his elimination in the last 16.
Rizzo faced one of the tournament’s standout prospects, 16-year-old Thai player Prin Ratmukda. The Maltese youngster managed to level the match at 1-1 by winning the second frame, but Ratmukda then took control, winning the next three frames in succession to seal a 4-1 victory.
The frame scores were 24-68, 66-32, 1-79 (71), 31-76, 7-58 (53), with Ratmukda having dropped only one frame so far in the competition, against Rizzo.
Rizzo will remain in Sofia as he prepares for the upcoming Men’s World Snooker Championship, which begins after the conclusion of the Junior and Women’s events. Additional Maltese players are also expected to travel to Bulgaria in the coming days to compete in the men’s competition.
