Judd Trump Lands £100,000 Bonus After 100th Century of the Season

Judd Trump had even more reason to smile at the Crucible, after securing a £100,000 World Snooker Tour (WST) bonus by making his 100th century break of the 2024/25 season during his second-round match against Shaun Murphy at the World Championship. Trump went on to win the match eventually by a 13-10 scoreline

Trump achieved the milestone in the 15th frame, much to the delight of the crowd, and added a significant sum to his bank balance as a result. The bonus had been announced by WST at the start of the season, promising £100,000 to any player who reached the landmark 100 centuries during the campaign. It was considered achievable, with both Neil Robertson (103) and Trump himself (102) having previously hit that mark in the 2013/14 and 2019/20 seasons respectively.

From the very start of the season, Trump set a blistering pace. He launched his campaign with five centuries en route to winning the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters in September and maintained his electric form throughout the early months. It soon became clear he was the only player in serious contention for the bonus.

Trump further bolstered his season by claiming a fifth Triple Crown title at the UK Championship in York in November, producing 11 centuries during that victorious run.

As the season wore on, Trump continued to close in on the bonus. He added seven centuries during his journey to the World Grand Prix semi-finals, bringing his tally to 86 centuries ahead of the season’s final stretch. A further six centuries during his run to the final of the Players Championship put him within single digits of the target. However, an early exit at the Tour Championship, with just one century, momentarily slowed his momentum.

Trump roared back into form at the World Championship, hitting five centuries in his first-round victory over Zhou Yuelong, moving him to 98 centuries for the season. Speaking to TNT Sports after that match, Trump admitted he wanted to get the milestone out of the way quickly to focus on the bigger prize of winning the World Championship.

“I know that I am close,” Trump said. “I would be lying if I said it was not on my mind. It would be nice to get it out of the way early. I don’t want to be losing and desperately trying to make centuries and everything is going wrong and everyone is laughing at me as I’m one short.”

Century number 99 arrived in the 14th frame against Murphy, and he completed the century of centuries one frame later with another dazzling break.

Trump’s achievement underlines an extraordinary season and cements his status at the very top of the snooker world.
