Cini Shines with Big Breaks as National Snooker Championships Progress

The 2024/25 National Individual Snooker Championships continued on Thursday 9th May at the Malta Snooker Academy, delivering more thrilling action as players battled for a place in the semi-finals.

In the CE Installations Premier quarter-final, Brian Cini produced a commanding display to defeat Philip Ciantar 5-3 in a best-of-nine encounter. Cini demonstrated his class with a string of impressive breaks, registering scores of 91, 80, 64, and 58 to seal his spot in the last four.

Meanwhile, in the 2nd Division quarter-final, Xavier Rizzo eased past Manuel Cachia with a convincing 3-0 victory in their best-of-five match. Rizzo’s solid performance ensured his progression into the semi-finals of his division.

The 2024/25 National Individual Snooker Championships continued to deliver top-class action on Wednesday, 8th May, at the Malta Snooker Academy, as two more quarter-final clashes were decided across different categories.

In the Goliath Coatings 1st Division quarter-final playoff, Peter Pace produced a clinical performance to defeat Wilfred Cross with a commanding 3-0 scoreline in their best-of-five encounter. Pace’s consistent potting and composed safety play saw him book his place in the semi-finals without dropping a frame.

Meanwhile, in the Masters category quarter-final (best of seven frames), veteran international and former professional Alex Borg showcased his experience to overcome Ivan Attard 4-2. Borg’s trademark break-building and tactical prowess were key to securing victory and ensuring his progression into the final four of the Masters division.

As the tournament advances, anticipation continues to build for the remaining rounds, with players eyeing national glory in the season’s most prestigious individual competition.
