Formula 1 drivers are complaining about the quality of the track in Miami, where tonight will be the first race of the US Grand Prix around the “Hard Rock Stadium”.
The main problem is the poor surface on which the tires are applied.
The drivers agree that the audience will watch a little overtaking because of all that.
“The surface on the track is ridiculous, the race will be difficult, and in the situation we will make a lot of mistakes,” said Sergio Perez, from Red Bull.
His colleague and current champion, Max Verstappen, said that he feels like he is driving through gravel.
Fernando Alonso is even more specific.
“Asphalt in Miami is not a Formula 1 standard, it will be difficult outside the trajectory, like gravel.” And there is nothing that can be done about it. This time one should try to provide a show, but next year something needs to change. It’s hard to race in those conditions.
