The 360Sports Malta Premier League returns on Friday with two exciting matches from the top six, both taking place at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium.
The first match starts at 6:00 PM, with league leaders Birkirkara facing 6th-placed Mosta. Both teams are coming off losses in their previous games. Birkirkara will be eager to bounce back after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Hamrun Spartans, marking their second consecutive loss following a setback against Floriana. Stefano De Angelis’s side needs a win to maintain 1st place, as the gap to second-placed Floriana has now narrowed to just 2 points.
Mosta, on the other hand, were also on the losing end last time out, falling to Floriana in a dramatic fashion, conceding a stoppage-time goal after missing a penalty just moments earlier.
In the second match, which promises to be slightly more anticipated, at 8:30 PM Sliema Wanderers take on Hamrun Spartans. Both teams come into the game on the back of victories.
Sliema won 3-1 against Hibernians last week, securing 3rd place with 25 points, just 3 points behind leaders Birkirkara and 1 behind Floriana. Hamrun, after enduring 4 consecutive defeats, have turned their form around with 2 consecutive wins – first over Gzira, which confirmed them into the top six, and then against Birkirkara last week. Hamrun’s resurgence has been fueled by some impressive performances from young talents who have been given opportunities in the first team and have made the most of them.
