Former PSG Manager Turns Down Opportunity to Take Over at Struggling Premier League Club
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has reportedly rejected the opportunity to replace Graham Potter as Chelsea’s head coach. Potter was chosen to take over from Thomas Tuchel by the club’s new regime and made an impressive start, going unbeaten in his first nine games. However, their form has since declined, with just three wins from their last 16 games across all competitions. While club chairman Todd Boehly is believed to be supporting Potter, other members of Chelsea’s hierarchy are reportedly not as convinced. As such, Pochettino was approached, but the 50-year-old declined the offer, stating that the project did not fit his criteria. Pochettino, who won the Ligue 1 title and two other trophies with PSG, has previously expressed his desire to return to the Premier League. However, he is reportedly waiting for a suitable project to arise. Chelsea’s next game is against Tottenham this Sunday, with Potter hoping to end their five-game losing streak in all competitions.
