The club’s marquee signing addressed a crowded Santiago Bernabéu, expressing that donning the white jersey is the fulfilment of a lifelong dream. Frenchman Kylian Mbappé mentioned in his inaugural remarks as a Real Madrid player that his “dream has come true” following a “challenging journey” with “numerous events,” which he managed to complete thanks to Florentino Pérez, who had faith in him “from the outset.”
“Good morning, everyone. I will attempt to speak in Spanish. Wow, it’s unbelievable to be here. I have dreamt for many years of playing for Real Madrid, and today my dream is becoming a reality. Today, I am an extremely happy boy. Very happy,” he commenced his speech.
“Thanks to the president, Florentino Pérez, who has believed in me since day one. Many things have transpired. And to all those who worked to bring me here. I understand it has been a tough journey, but I am here, I am a Real Madrid player, and my entire family is delighted, with my mum shedding tears…,” he continued.
Mbappé won over his new supporters with his words and by kissing the Real Madrid badge.
“It’s an extraordinary day for me. It holds immense significance. Thank you to all Madridistas because you have shown me affection and love for many years, and that is deeply cherished in my heart.”
“Thank you all for attending today,” he proclaimed. “I have another dream. To honour this club, the finest in the world. I will dedicate my life to this club and its emblem,” he went on.
The Frenchman also sought to convey a message to the younger generation, reminiscing about his own dreams of playing for Real Madrid.
“I have something to say to all the youngsters. I was once like you, with a dream, and today I offer you some advice. With passion and ambition, you can achieve anything you desire. Today I stand here, but I was once in your shoes,” he affirmed.
“I’m very moved. I’m proud to be a player for the club of my dreams and the greatest in football history,” he added.
Mbappé didn’t wish to “speak further” to avoid “tears,” concluding his address with a “one, two, three, Hala Madrid!” cheered by the fans who had gathered at the Santiago Bernabéu to welcome him.
