Chelsea have finalized the acquisition of Filip Jorgensen, an under-21 goalkeeper from Denmark, from LaLiga team Villarreal, as announced by the Premier League club on Tuesday.
According to Chelsea, the 22-year-old, who emerged as Villarreal’s primary goalkeeper last season, has agreed to a seven-year contract. Although the transfer fee was not disclosed by the clubs, the British media reported that the deal was valued at approximately £20 million ($25.67 million).

Jorgensen expressed his delight with the move, describing it as a dream come true. He enthusiastically stated his eagerness to join Chelsea, which he regards as one of the world’s largest clubs. Jorgensen is excited to meet his new teammates and commence playing alongside them. While being born in Sweden to a Danish father and Swedish mother, Jorgensen initially represented Sweden at various youth levels but made the switch to Denmark in May 2021.
