Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has been linked with a potential move to Manchester United following reports suggesting that the England international is unsettled in London.
Palmer, aged 23, joined Chelsea from Manchester City in a transfer worth £42.5 million two and a half years ago. Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, he has established himself as one of the club’s most influential attacking players and was a key figure during the previous Premier League season.
According to a report by The Sun, Palmer would be open to interest from Manchester United, the club he supported while growing up in Manchester, should they decide to pursue a transfer. The same report states that Palmer would not consider a return to Manchester City while Pep Guardiola remains in charge.
Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox is understood to be a long term admirer of Palmer, having worked closely with him during his development at the Manchester City academy. Wilcox is said to have followed Palmer’s progress closely and reportedly rates him highly after his performances at Chelsea.
During the most recent Premier League campaign, Palmer scored 15 goals and provided eight assists, underlining his importance to Chelsea’s attacking output. Despite his form, the report claims that Palmer has struggled to settle fully in London and misses his hometown of Wythenshawe.
Palmer signed an improved contract with Chelsea last season, with the deal running until 2033. Any potential move would therefore require significant negotiations, and there has been no official indication from Chelsea or Manchester United regarding a possible transfer.
At present, Palmer remains a Chelsea player, and any discussions surrounding his future are based solely on media reports rather than confirmed developments.
