The 6th edition of the EAP Malta International WACT Challenger Meeting, organised by Pembroke Athleta Athletics & Triathlon, has once again raised the bar for athletics in Malta, delivering an outstanding event marked by seven new meeting records.

As the only annual international track and field meeting held in Malta and a recognised event on the World Athletics Annual Meetings Calendar, this edition drew 172 Maltese athletes and 163 international athletes and officials from 35 countries, across all continents.

The event achieved its highest ever Meeting Ranking Score of 73,478 points, an increase of nearly 9,000 points since 2022. This continuous upward trajectory is expected to further boost Malta’s position in the World Athletics global rankings by year-end.

- 2022 – 64,758 pts (Ranking: 878th)
- 2023 – 67,886 pts (Ranking: 562nd)
- 2024 – 70,485 pts (Ranking: 478th)
- 2025 – 73,478 pts (ranking improvement expected)

A Meet That Celebrated Human Potential
From the first starter’s pistol to the final jump in the sandpit, the EAP Malta International 2025 was a celebration of what athletes can achieve when preparation meets opportunity. The track came alive with grit, speed, and determination, as sprinters thundered down the straight, middle-distance runners dug deep for personal bests, and jumpers defied gravity. Records weren’t just broken — they were smashed with conviction. Each athlete, whether a seasoned international or a promising local talent, gave everything in front of a passionate crowd. Their performances reminded us all that sport is more than competition — it’s about heart, resilience, and the power to inspire. This was a meet where futures were forged, limits were tested, and Malta stood proudly as a platform for excellence.

The following athletes set new records at this year’s meeting:
- Guy Maganga Gorra (Gabon) – Men’s 100m – 10.38s (also won the 200m)
- Sina Mayer (Germany) – Women’s 100m – 11.20s (also won the 200m)
- Keenan Blake (Netherlands) – Men’s 400m – 45.91s
- Tetiana Melnyk (Ukraine) – Women’s 400m – 53.34s
- Dániel Huller (Hungary) – Men’s 800m – 1:48.51
- Olgierd Michniewski (Poland) – Men’s 110m Hurdles – 13.72s
- Viktoriia Baranivska (Ukraine) – Women’s Triple Jump – 13.58m

Maltese Athletes Rise to the Occasion
Among the 330+ athletes present, it was especially heartening to witness Malta’s own athletes rise to the challenge with conviction and pride. Competing against high-calibre international opposition, they demonstrated not only technical ability and discipline, but also the passion and determination that come with representing one’s country on home soil. For many, this meeting marked an important step in their sporting journey. Emerging talents gained invaluable experience alongside seasoned international performers, while established national athletes competed with commendable composure and confidence. Their commitment and courage stood out, and the strong support from the local crowd elevated every Maltese performance. The EAP Malta International once again affirmed that Maltese athletes are worthy contenders on the international stage.
