In Paris, the American fencer, Lee Kiefer won her second gold medal in women’s foil fencing by beating her teammate Lauren Scruggs with a convincing 15-6 victory.
According to ESPN, this is a significant achievement as it is only the second time an American has won consecutive gold medals in the same fencing event.

This competition was also a milestone for Scruggs, who became the first Black fencer from the United States to win an individual Olympic medal in women’s fencing.
Kiefer dedicated her win to her late coach, Buckie Leach, who passed away after guiding her to gold in the Tokyo Olympics. She also thanked her husband, Gerek Meinhardt, who is also a fellow Olympic medalist and will be competing in Paris.
Additionally, Eleanor Harvey from Canada won a bronze medal, making her the first Canadian to achieve an Olympic medal in fencing.
