Maltese powerboat teams delivered outstanding performances over the weekend at the Centomiglia Del Lario race in Lake Como, Italy.
Despite multiple postponements caused by adverse weather conditions, the 76th edition of the prestigious event saw Maltese competitors rise to the challenge and showcase exceptional skill.
Team Chaudron, driven by Aaron Ciantar with co-pilot Jurgen Barbara, clinched first place in the V-Hull category. They were closely followed by another Maltese entry, Team Cutting Edge, captained by Steve Bezzina. Team Zulu, helmed by Beppe Debono, also competed but was forced to withdraw due to mechanical problems.
Ciantar and Team Chaudron also claimed the Overall honours, while Team Cutting Edge finished fourth overall.
The race included dramatic moments, including an incident in which two boats capsized, prompting red flags and forcing organisers to declare the race null for record purposes. Podium celebrations, however, still went ahead.
Despite setbacks and tough conditions, Maltese teams showed strong determination and exceptional skill on the international stage.
