Cardile joins Aston Martin F1 team from Ferrari

Ferrari’s technical director Enrico Cardile will take on the role of chief technical officer at Aston Martin next year, as confirmed by the Silverstone-based Formula One team on Tuesday, although the exact start date remains unspecified. Ferrari announced his departure on Monday, with Cardile expected to have an extended gardening leave.

“Enrico and I share a strong drive to succeed in F1, and he will have all the necessary resources to achieve that goal,” stated team owner and CEO Lawrence Stroll. “With Andy Cowell joining as Group CEO in October, alongside our current leadership, we are assembling a powerful team.”

Last week, it was revealed that former Mercedes engine chief Andy Cowell would replace Martin Whitmarsh, the ex-McLaren principal. The Formula One landscape is set for significant changes in 2026 with the introduction of new engine and technical regulations. Aston Martin will transition from using Mercedes power units to becoming the sole team powered by Honda.
