Kylian Mbappé scored twice from the spot to give Real Madrid a 2–1 victory over Olympique de Marseille, as Los Blancos overcame the dismissal of Dani Carvajal to open their league phase with a win and maintain a perfect record against Les Olympiens.
Madrid started brightly. Mbappé volleyed wide acrobatically before Franco Mastantuono struck the post and Gerónimo Rulli twice denied Rodrygo, then rushed out superbly to thwart Mbappé. Mbappé squeezed home the second penalty under Rulli’s hands to complete the turnaround.
Greenwood threatened late with one strike saved and another lifted over, yet Madrid held firm to translate their flawless LaLiga start into Europe. For Marseille, another away defeat extends a troubling trend after losses at Rennes and Lyon, and underlines the work required to turn competitive displays into results on the road.
