Alessandro Del Piero, legendary former Italy forward and Juventus icon, has ignited hopes among Bianconeri fans of a return to the club in a new role after announcing on Tuesday that he has officially obtained his UEFA Pro Licence — the highest coaching qualification in European football.
Del Piero, who spent 19 unforgettable seasons at Juventus, made the announcement after completing the course administered by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) at the renowned Coverciano training centre in Florence.

“Thanks to FIGC and all the teachers who accompanied me on this course,” Del Piero said. “I am grateful to all the people who collaborated and shared with me this important training journey.”
The 50-year-old, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in Juventus history, won six Serie A titles and the Champions League with the club, as well as lifting the 2006 FIFA World Cup with Italy. His latest qualification has sent waves of excitement through Juventus supporters, many of whom flooded social media with messages urging their beloved “Pinturicchio” to return to the club — this time on the touchline.
Del Piero’s deep connection with Juventus has never waned. When he left the club in 2012, Juventus offered to retire his iconic number 10 shirt, but he declined, saying he wanted future generations to be able to dream of wearing it.

Juventus fans are now dreaming of something else — seeing Del Piero lead the team from the bench. With the club having struggled for consistency since their streak of nine consecutive Serie A titles ended in 2020, many see the former captain as a figure who could help restore the club’s identity and pride.
Earlier this season, Juventus sacked head coach Thiago Motta and appointed former player Igor Tudor in a bid to revive their fortunes. However, speculation over the long-term future of the managerial post continues — and Del Piero’s coaching credentials may soon become part of that conversation.

Whether or not a return to Turin is imminent, Del Piero’s latest step marks the beginning of a new chapter in an already illustrious football journey.
