FIFA Women’s Champions Cup to set new financial benchmark in women’s club football

The inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup is set to establish a new financial benchmark in women’s club football, with record prize money confirmed for the 2026 edition of the competition.

The first winners of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup will receive USD 2.3 million, the highest single payout ever awarded in women’s club football. The runners up will earn USD 1 million after reaching the final, which will be played at Arsenal Stadium in London on Sunday, 1 February 2026.

Further financial rewards will be distributed throughout the tournament. The two teams eliminated at the semi final stage will each receive USD 200,000 in participation payments. Auckland United FC of New Zealand and Wuhan Chegu Jiangda WFC of China PR, who were eliminated in Round One and Round Two respectively, will each receive USD 100,000.

In total, close to USD 4 million will be distributed among the six participating clubs based on their performance in the competition.

FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström stated that the prize structure reflects FIFA’s belief in women’s club football and its continued global development. He added that the investment underlines FIFA’s commitment to strengthening women’s club competitions and ensuring sustainable growth across the game.

The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup forms part of a wider programme aimed at supporting women’s club football worldwide. Following the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023, USD 11.3 million was distributed to 1,041 clubs through the FIFA Club Benefits Programme.

These initiatives have been supported by reforms to the Women’s International Match Calendar and the introduction of new elite competitions, including the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup and the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup, which is scheduled to begin in 2028. The latter will introduce measures such as training compensation, club solidarity mechanisms, and minimum standards programmes designed to support long term club development.

The FIFA Women’s Champions Cup brings together the leading club from each confederation to compete for the title of intercontinental club champions. The final phase of the inaugural tournament will take place in London, with semi final matches scheduled for Wednesday, 28 January 2026 at Brentford Stadium.

The first semi final will see Concacaf champions Gotham FC of the United States face CONMEBOL champions SC Corinthians of Brazil at 12.30 GMT. The second semi final will feature UEFA Women’s Champions League holders Arsenal Women FC of England against CAF Women’s Champions League champions ASFAR of Morocco at 18.00 GMT.

The competition will conclude on Sunday, 1 February 2026 at Arsenal Stadium. The third place play off will be played at 14.45 GMT, followed by the final at 18.00 GMT, where the first FIFA Women’s Champions Cup winners will be crowned.
