Aston Villa made it six games unbeaten against Bournemouth with a comfortable 4-0 win at Villa Park, giving the Cherries back-to-back Premier League losses for the first time this season.
Villa started strongly. Boubacar Kamara forced Bournemouth’s goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović into action within 15 minutes. But just before the half-hour, Emiliano Buendía scored a brilliant free-kick, his third Premier League goal of the season.
Buoyed by the opener, Villa kept the pressure on. Amadou Onana scored a long-range goal after a neat pass from Morgan Rogers. It was Onana’s first goal for Villa since April, putting Bournemouth two goals behind at half-time.
Bournemouth started the second half brighter, but their efforts were blocked by goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez and the goal frame. Martínez even saved a penalty from Antoine Semenyo, keeping Villa in control.
Villa sealed the win with two late set-piece goals. Ross Barkley headed in from a Lucas Digne corner, and Youri Tielemans scored after a short corner was worked to the edge of the box. The 4-0 victory lifted Villa to seventh in the table, while Bournemouth dropped to ninth on goal difference.
