Birkirkara finally secured their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Mosta, thanks to a brace from Franklin Sasere.
It took just 11 minutes for Gianluca Festa’s side to take the lead. A well-timed pass from Makoma found Sasere in the box, and the Nigerian striker made no mistake, finishing past Demba. The first half ended with Birkirkara leading 1-0.
In the second half, Mosta pushed for an equaliser, but their hopes were dashed in the 80th minute. A shot from Macula struck the arm of Hurtado Herrara inside the area, prompting referee Ezekiel Barbara to award a penalty and show a red card to the Mosta defender.
Sasere stepped up and calmly converted from the spot, sealing the win for Birkirkara, who now climb to 7th place in the table with 6 points.
