A financial discrepancy of approximately €16,000 has prompted the Malta Football Association to file a police report on 14th November 2025, following the conclusion of an internal inquiry that failed to establish the precise cause of the missing funds.
The development forms part of a sequence of steps triggered earlier this month, after the MFA’s Finance Department flagged possible irregularities and an inquiry was appointed on 4th November. That inquiry has now been completed, with its report formally presented to MFA officials and subsequently referred to the Association’s Executive Board.
In a statement earlier today, the MFA, verified that around €16,000 could not be accounted for. However, it did not determine how or why this discrepancy occurred. Despite the absence of a clear explanation, the report was robust enough for MFA officials to escalate the matter to the highest internal body and to external authorities.
