Chelsea moved up to second in the Premier League table after a 3-0 home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers, their fourth victory in five league matches.
Manager Enzo Maresca made several changes to his starting line-up after the midweek draw with Qarabağ, but his team started brightly. Enzo Fernández forced an early save from Sam Johnstone, and Alejandro Garnacho also went close. Despite Chelsea’s early pressure, Wolves defended well, keeping the score level at half-time.
Chelsea began the second half strongly and were soon rewarded. Garnacho’s cross found Malo Gusto, who headed in his first professional goal. Wolves tried to respond, but Chelsea’s substitutes made the difference. Estêvão set up João Pedro to double the lead just minutes after coming on.
The third goal came from Pedro Neto, who finished off a swift counter-attack after another good run from Garnacho. The Portuguese winger did not hold back in celebrating against his former club.
Chelsea now sit just six points behind leaders Arsenal, while Wolves remain winless this season and face a tough battle to turn things around under a new manager.
