World Aquatics has confirmed the first series of Diving Recognised Events for 2027, providing athletes with valuable international competition opportunities as they prepare for the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest.
The recognised events form an important part of the global diving pathway, allowing athletes to gain experience at international level while giving National Federations the opportunity to host high-quality competitions under World Aquatics regulations.
The opening months of the 2027 calendar will feature four confirmed events across Europe and North America. The season will begin with the Aquatics GB Diving International in Sheffield, Great Britain, from 4 to 7 February, followed by the Madrid International Diving Meet in Spain from 1 to 4 April. Germany will then host the 68th International Diver’s Day in Rostock from 8 to 11 April, before the Canada Cup of Diving takes place in Windsor, Canada, from 15 to 18 April.
Alongside these recognised events, the World Aquatics Diving World Cup will also continue its global circuit, with competitions scheduled in Canada and Mexico before the Super Final takes place in China.
All these events will serve as important preparation stages ahead of the main highlight of the diving season — the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, where diving competitions will be held from 26 June to 4 July 2027.
World Aquatics President Husain Al Musallam welcomed the growing number of recognised diving competitions and highlighted their importance in developing the sport worldwide.
He said these events provide athletes with essential international experience while helping expand access to diving across World Aquatics’ member federations. He also thanked the organisers in Sheffield, Madrid, Rostock and Windsor for their continued commitment to supporting the growth of the sport.
World Aquatics Diving Technical Committee Chair Bashar Al-Saffar also underlined the role of these competitions in supporting the next generation of athletes and officials.
According to Al-Saffar, recognised events are crucial for athlete development, giving divers the opportunity to compete internationally before major championships. They also contribute to the development of judges by providing practical experience as they progress through the World Aquatics certification pathway.
Further Diving Recognised Events for the remainder of the 2027 season are expected to be announced in the coming months as preparations continue for another major year in international diving.
