This past weekend, Tenishia Thornton and Kim Camilleri Lagana competed in the International Weightlifting Women’s Grand Prix in Baden, Austria. This year, the competition saw the participation of athletes from 16 countries.
First on the platform was Kim Camilleri Lagana, who managed successful lift of 67kg in the Snatch and 86kg in the Clean and Jerk, closing with a fantastic total of 153kg—2kg over her personal best. With this total, she finished 1st overall in the Under-17 category and secured 2nd place in the Seniors 55kg class.

Tenishia Thornton competed in the 64kg category, successfully completing all three Snatch attempts and finishing with 88kg. In the Clean and Jerk portion, she started with a successful 106kg, followed by 109kg, and narrowly missed her last attempt at 112kg, ending with an impressive total of 197kg. These results earned Tenishia 1st place in the Seniors 64kg category, 1st place overall in the Junior division, and 3rd place in the overall Seniors.
This competition was crucial for both athletes as they prepare for the World Junior Championships in mid-September where Rylee Borg will join the team.
