The Manchester derby has been rescheduled for live television after the Premier League confirmed its list of televised fixtures for September. The encounter will also usher in a new era, marking the first Manchester derby in a decade without Pep Guardiola on the touchline, as Michael Carrick and Enzo Maresca prepare to go head-to-head.
The Manchester derby has been rescheduled to Sunday, 13 September, instead of its original Saturday slot, as part of the Premier League’s latest round of broadcast changes.
Several other Manchester United fixtures have also been rearranged, with their matches against Ipswich Town, Everton and Fulham all pushed back by a day from their initial dates.
Manchester City will travel to face Crystal Palace in a Friday night fixture at Selhurst Park, while their home encounters against Coventry City and Sunderland remain unchanged with traditional 3pm Saturday kick-offs.
Arsenal are among the clubs most affected by the scheduling revisions. Mikel Arteta’s side will now host Aston Villa on Monday, 31 August, before taking on Sunderland in an 8pm kick-off on 12 September. The Gunners’ London derby against Chelsea has also been moved to Sunday, 6 September.
Chelsea have also had three fixtures rescheduled. Their clash with Brighton has been switched to a Sunday, while the meeting with Brentford will now be played on a Friday evening. However, that fixture could still be moved to Saturday, 19 September, depending on the outcome of either club’s involvement in the third round of the Carabao Cup.
