Freiburg Shatters Skid, Sounds a Warning to West Ham

In a much-needed resurgence, SC Freiburg triumphed over FC Augsburg with a scoreline of 2:0 in the concluding match of Bundesliga’s sixth round, demonstrating their readiness ahead of the upcoming Europa League clash against West Ham United.

The victory came as a breath of fresh air for the home squad, terminating a dismal three-match winless run in the league, and setting a bullish tone just before taking on the Hammers in a continental face-off.

The curtain raiser came early into the game when Vincenzo Grifo coolly converted a penalty in the fifth minute, following a foul on Jonathan Schmid. Grifo’s finesse was on display once again when he orchestrated the second goal. His corner kick delivery in the 56th minute found Philipp Lienhart, who nodded the ball past the Augsburg custodian, amplifying Freiburg’s lead.

Though Augsburg managed to find the back of the net in the 81st minute, the goal.
