Bormla Subbuteo Club, the number 1 ranked team in the world, won the Valletta Lions TFC International Open by defeating Valletta Subbuteo Club 2-1 in the final. The winning team consisted of Charles Aquilina, Jason Pisani, Jean Carl Tabone, and Belgian player Bessim Golger.
Bessim Golger reached the semi-finals in the Open category, while Charles Aquilina reached the semi-finals in the Veteran category. With this success, Bormla will now remain at number one in the world for the eighth consecutive month.
In the same weekend, Bormla Subbuteo Club also participated in the Glasgow International Open. George Ebejer was in outstanding form, winning the Open category by beating Greek player Chanos 6-1 in the final. Mauro Camilleri also reached the semi-finals.
In the team event, Bormla won Group 1 with 4 wins out of 4 games, and also won the semi-final. However, due to delays in the tournament schedule (2 hours late) and the 1-hour drive plus flight, Bormla decided to forfeit the final and finished as runners-up.
Despite this, the points earned from these two tournaments ensure that Bormla Subbuteo Club will remain in the top tier for the coming months.
