The Turkish Football Federation has provisionally suspended 448 current and former club officials, including Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan and Beşiktaş vice-president Hakan Daltaban, as part of a wide-ranging betting investigation.
The federation said the officials had placed bets while holding positions at their clubs during the past five years. All 448 have been referred to its disciplinary committee.
The investigation covers officials associated with clubs in Turkey’s top two divisions during the 2026-27 season. Turkish media reported that around 171 of those named had served at Süper Lig clubs.
The suspensions are provisional, pending the disciplinary process.
Doğan acknowledged that he had previously held a betting account, which he said he had disclosed to the authorities, but denied wrongdoing.

“These companies sponsored clubs and held launch events. Nobody thought this would cause problems,” he told broadcaster A Spor.
“If we made a mistake, we apologise, but we have done nothing wrong.”
The latest referrals follow a broader crackdown on betting in Turkish football. Around 149 referees and 1,024 players were previously suspended for varying periods as part of the investigation.
Several top-flight players and senior club officials were also jailed during investigations into alleged illegal betting and match-fixing.
In a separate case, authorities detained the head and six members of Turkey’s main refereeing board on Tuesday over allegations of interference in refereeing procedures.
The federation’s disciplinary committee will now examine the cases involving the 448 officials and determine whether further sanctions are warranted.
