Four members of the Malta Triathlon Federation’s Youth Development Squad recently represented Malta at the 2026 Willebroek Europe Triathlon and World Triathlon Youth Development Camp in Belgium, gaining valuable international experience alongside some of Europe’s most promising young athletes.
Katie Vella Wood, Zia Fujii, Liam Daly and Aiden Muscat attended the camp, accompanied by World Triathlon Level 1 coach Michael Hughes.
The development camp brought together talented young triathletes from across Europe, providing participants with the opportunity to enhance their technical abilities, expand their knowledge of the sport and train in a highly competitive international environment.
The initiative forms part of Europe Triathlon and World Triathlon’s ongoing efforts to support the development of the next generation of elite athletes.
In recent years, a growing number of young Maltese triathletes have taken part in these international camps, benefiting not only from expert coaching and structured training but also from the opportunity to build friendships, exchange experiences and establish connections with fellow athletes from across the continent.
The Malta Triathlon Federation noted that these opportunities have been made possible through its strong collaboration with Europe Triathlon and World Triathlon.
The federation also expressed its gratitude to the Maltese Olympic Committee and Europe Triathlon for their continued support, which enabled the Maltese delegation to participate in the development camp.
