Young Maltese triathletes Kai Azzopardi and Ryan Muscat represented Malta with distinction at the 2026 World Triathlon Development Regional Cup, held in Mamaia, Romania, on 30th May 2026, competing against some of the best young talent from across Europe.
The pair took part in the Sprint Triathlon event, which brought together a competitive field of 54 athletes and gave both youngsters a valuable taste of international racing at a high level.
Kai Azzopardi put in a fine showing, finishing 14th overall with a time of 56:32, while Ryan Muscat crossed the line in 31st place with a time of 1:00:55.
Taking part in events at this level plays a crucial role in the development of young athletes, giving them the experience of racing against quality opposition and helping them continue to grow within the sport.
The Malta Triathlon community has congratulated both athletes on their performances and praised the dedication and hard work they continue to put into their training.
