Jasmine Paolini had a weekend to remember in Rome, winning both the singles and doubles titles at the 2025 Italian Open.
On Saturday, she became the first Italian woman since 1985 to win the singles title in Rome, defeating former US Open champion Coco Gauff in straight sets.
A day later, she teamed up with Sara Errani to win the women’s doubles final, beating Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens 6-4, 7-5. The Italian pair came from four games behind in both sets to successfully defend their title.
Paolini is now the first woman since Monica Seles in 1990 to win both the singles and doubles in Rome, and only the second ever to do so at a WTA 1000 event, after Vera Zvonareva in 2009.
Italy could enjoy even more success this weekend, with world number one Jannik Sinner playing in the men’s final against Carlos Alcaraz later today.
