The U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) has announced a major $800 million redevelopment project for the U.S. Open site in Queens, New York. The plans include a comprehensive modernization of the iconic Arthur Ashe Stadium and the addition of a new player performance center at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
The renovation work is expected to be completed by the 2027 U.S. Open, with construction staged carefully to avoid disruption to the 2025 and 2026 tournaments.
This project represents the largest single investment in the history of the U.S. Open and will be fully funded by the USTA without any public or taxpayer money. The redevelopment aims to preserve and upgrade Arthur Ashe Stadium, originally built more than 25 years ago, ensuring it remains a world-class tennis venue for decades to come. Additionally, the new facilities are designed to enhance the players’ experience by providing advanced amenities and greater comfort off the court.
