The Tennis Association of America admitted why Novak was not exempted

The decision that Novak Djokovic will not play at the US Open is still standing, this time the Tennis Association of America sent an email and explained in detail why the best Serbian tennis player Novak did not receive an exemption.

-” USTA was in regular contact with several departments of the federal government, including the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, and the Department of State. In all cases, we were informed that the US Government no longer considered applications for exemptions of national significance. Only exemptions requested on an individual basis by an interested party would be considered by the appropriate department or authority, as regards the entry into the country of unvaccinated people who are not US citizens. This policy, which has been in effect since October 2021, was different from the policy that was in effect during the US Open 2020 and 2021,” the announcement reads.

The last Grand Slam of the season starts today.
