Jannik Sinner booked his place in the fourth round at Wimbledon with a commanding straight-sets victory over Spain’s Pedro Martinez. The world number one delivered a solid performance, winning 6-1, 6-3, 6-1, and will now face Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16.
Sinner dominated the opening set with ease, giving up just one game. The second set proved more competitive, as Martinez created the only break point chances of the match, but all were saved by the Italian, who maintained his composure under pressure to close it out 6-3.
The third set was one-way traffic again, with Sinner accelerating his pace and sealing the win in under 30 minutes. His consistency and control left little opportunity for Martinez to mount a comeback.
Martinez, hampered by a shoulder problem that required a medical time-out, fought bravely and earned applause from the Wimbledon Centre Court crowd for his resilience and flair during a few extended rallies. Despite his efforts, the Spaniard struggled to keep up with Sinner’s relentless tempo and precision in key moments.
This win marks Sinner’s third consecutive straight-sets victory at this year’s tournament, reinforcing his status as a strong contender for the title.
