World number one Aryna Sabalenka continued her impressive Wimbledon campaign with a straight-sets victory over Jelena Ostapenko to reach the fourth round.
The Belarusian defeated the Latvian 6-4, 6-4 in a confident display, booking a last-16 meeting with former world number one Naomi Osaka.
Sabalenka controlled much of the match with her powerful baseline game and remained composed whenever Ostapenko tried to fight back, especially during the second set.
The victory keeps Sabalenka on course for a 15th consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final. She is also aiming to win her first Wimbledon title after reaching the semi-finals in each of her last three appearances at the All England Club.
Awaiting her in the next round is Osaka, who has reached the Wimbledon fourth round for the first time in her career. Sabalenka leads their head-to-head record 3-1, including a straight-sets victory at this year’s French Open.
The highly anticipated clash between two of the women’s biggest hitters will take place on Sunday, with a place in the Wimbledon quarter-finals at stake.
