Chelsea football coach Mauricio Pochettino was visibly disappointed with the 3:1 loss to West Ham in the second round of the Premier League.
At the opening of the season, Chelsea played 1:1 at home against Liverpool, and now they have been defeated by West Ham in the city derby.
“That’s football. Teams like ours have to find a balance, and today we didn’t do a few actions properly and a penalty arrived. We created a lot of chances and were good in the first half, then we needed to settle the match.” emphasized Pochettino, and then added:
“In the second half, they conceded a goal from an isolated action. It is difficult to find the space to create 100% chances, but this was the type of game that is difficult to explain. We were better and in the end we lost.”
With the score 1:1 at the end of the first half, Enco Fernandez missed the penalty.
“That frustrated us because we played well and were not rewarded. ÄŒukvumeka’s injury changed the shape of the team a little. We have to be stronger in such situations. I’m disappointed, but it’s just the beginning. I think we will be a stronger and more competitive team.” concluded Pochettino.
