Nick Kyrgios points out that he is aware of what is expected of him at the Australian Open and that he feels pressure because of that.
“I have always believed that pressure is a privilege. In real life, there is not much pressure to be a professional tennis player. We earn a lot, we travel the world with our favorite people. We see different people and different cultures. In the scheme of things, it’s not pressure but I completely understand going out on the court with all these expectations that ‘Nick Kyrgios now has a legitimate chance to win the Australian Open‘ and everyone in Australia expects great things from me,” began Kyrgios.
“Sometimes there is a lot to bear. It’s not easy to be in the center of attention,” added the currently 22nd player on the planet.
What Kyrgios is known for is fighting on the pitch.
“I think I accepted that challenge. It’s not easy, I worked really hard to try to channel it and use it as fuel. It’s hard to be me. When I win a tournament or something valuable, they always want more. They never say, ‘Okay, it’s time for a break,’ but ‘Do it again,’ or ‘Do it now.'”
“I realized that people will never have enough. I think I have achieved great things in sports and where I started. I’m happy with myself. I want to achieve more for myself, from or my whole team, and not for someone else,” Nick Kyrgios concluded.
