Serbian player Hamad Medjedovic achieved a remarkable victory over top-seeded Daniil Medvedev from Russia, securing a surprising 6-3, 6-2 win in the semi-finals of the Open 13 Provence tournament in Marseille, France.
Medjedovic, who had previously not defeated any top-10 rivals, managed to defeat Medvedev, ranked eighth globally. The 21-year-old pulled off the impressive win in just 72 minutes, recording seven aces and saving 3 out of 5 break points during the match.
In the final, Medjedovic will face Ugo Humbert from France, who secured his place by winning in straight sets, claiming a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Zizou Bergs from Belgium.
At the IEB+ Argentina Open, Argentine player Francisco Cerundolo, seeded fifth, dominated Spaniard Pedro Martinez in the semi-finals in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 victory. Cerundolo showcased eight aces and successfully defended all seven break points he encountered during the match.
Joao Fonseca from Brazil has also advanced to the final by winning 7-6 (3), 5-7, 6-1 against Laslo Djere from Serbia. The third set was tied at 1-1 before Djere had a sudden collapse.
At the Delray Beach Open, Miomir Kecmanovic, seeded 7th from Serbia, remained unfazed by a hostile atmosphere and caused an upset by defeating the third-seeded American, Alex Michelsen, with a score of 7-6 (3), 6-3 in the semi-finals in Delray Beach, Florida.
Despite being behind at 5-4 in the initial set, Kecmanovic made a comeback. He then swiftly took a 3-0 lead in the second set, securing victory over Michelsen.
In another semi-final match on Saturday, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina from Spain, seeded 8th, eliminated Matteo Arnaldi from Italy, the 4th seed, with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
