DJOKOVIC INTENDED FOR WIMBLEDON: I'm not going to the USA, that's my additional motivation here!

Novak Djokovic held a press conference before the start of Wimbledon, where he spoke about the tournament itself, but also the US Open, where he will not be able to play!

The Serbian tennis player is determined to win his first Grand Slam title this season.

One of the reasons is the ban on his participation in the United States due to the decision not to receive the vaccine.

For now, I am not allowed to enter the United States and here it is an additional motivation for me. I can’t do much, it is up to the American government whether it will allow unvaccinated people to enter the country – said Novak.

As he further states, it is no longer imperative for him to collect points.

– It will affect other tennis players more than me. I don’t want to say that points are not important, but for me they are not as important as before. Now I am no longer chasing the placement as I used to when I wanted to break Federer’s record. That is no longer my priority. So far, I have not managed to defend 4,000 points from Australia, and that affects me. But, that is not my primary goal – Djokovic added.

The current topic was Russian and Belarusian tennis players.

– I do not agree with the ban on Russians and Belarusians from playing. I don’t see why they are to blame for what happened. I don’t think that’s fair to them. I remind you that from 1992 to 1996, Serbs could not participate in international competitions, so I understand them – said the Serb.

He also commented on the great season that Rafael Nadal had.

He had an operation, he missed half a year, and then came back and won the Grand Slam. I admire for what he did. He is a great champion, always infinitely combative and I admire him for that. He is one of my biggest rivals, but I really respect him – Novak concluded.

Djokovic will start the competition at Wimbledon on Monday, and his rival in the first round will be SoonWoo Kwon.
