Novak Djokovic suffered a shock first-round exit at the US Open after losing to Argentina’s Mariano Navone in five sets.
The four-time champion won the second and third sets after losing the opener, but Navone fought back to win 7-6, 5-7, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Djokovic struggled physically during the match, vomiting on court and later suffering with back and shoulder problems. The defeat is his earliest-ever exit at the US Open and means he will finish another season without a Grand Slam title.
