The legendary Mats Wilander believes that Novak Djokovic has the potential and game to win more trophies than Roger Federer at Wimbledon.
Wilander, once Djokovic’s biggest critic, has been ranked among his “biggest fans” in recent years. The Swede has praised the Serbian tennis player on several occasions this year, and that was the case this time as well.
Before the match between Novak and Tim Van Rijthoven, Wilander said that in case of victory and placing in the second week of the tournament, Djokovic has a great chance to lift the trophy in London. And not only that.
The Swede thinks that by the end of his career, the Serb will equal and maybe surpass Roger Federer’s record (eight titles at Wimbledon).
- I really believe that Novak has a good chance. I think he is by far the best player on grass and has been for several years. He looks better every time he goes out on the field again. He is clearer about what he needs to do when he is on the grass, how he should move, when he should slip and not fall, he understands better how to move on the grass. There’s a really good chance he’ll reach eight Wimbledon titles and finish with the most Slams of them all. But of course, a certain Rafa Nadal continues to surprise us – said Wilander.
What do you think about the prognosis of the legendary Swede?
