Djokovic knocked out by world No. 204 in Shanghai shock

Novak Djokovic was beaten in the Shanghai Masters semi-finals by world number 204, Valentin Vacherot. The 26-year-old from Monaco won 6-3, 6-4 for the biggest victory of his career.

Djokovic, who had been feeling unwell and dealing with injuries all week, looked uncomfortable throughout. He was sick courtside, needed several medical breaks, and had problems with his left leg.

Even though he broke Vacherot’s serve early on, Djokovic was quickly broken back. Vacherot then took control as Djokovic struggled to move properly.

Despite the hot and humid weather, Djokovic kept fighting in the second set, but two double faults and more mistakes gave Vacherot the win.

After the match, Vacherot said, “I’m trying to pinch myself – is this real?” and admitted he had many emotions, especially playing against someone like Djokovic.
