Novak Djokovic continued his run at Wimbledon by beating British wildcard Dan Evans in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 on Thursday. It only took the Serbian star 1 hour and 47 minutes to win the match on Centre Court.
Djokovic, seeded sixth, had struggled with a stomach issue in his first-round match but looked much better this time, hitting 46 winners. The win gave him his 99th Wimbledon victory.

Speaking after the match, Djokovic said:
“It just shows I’ve been playing for a long time! I still enjoy it. This court means a lot to me. Wimbledon is special, and any records made here are even more special.”
The 38-year-old is chasing his 25th Grand Slam title, which would make him the most successful singles player in tennis history. He’s currently tied on 24 with Margaret Court.
Although Djokovic lost in the past two Wimbledon finals to Carlos Alcaraz, he believes this tournament is his best chance to win another major.
He joked:
“I’ll think about the records when I’m having a margarita on the beach with Federer and Nadal!”
Evans, ranked 154th in the world, had beaten Djokovic once before on clay, but the Serb made sure there was no upset this time. Djokovic played smart, stayed focused, and said:
“Sometimes you just have one of those days where everything goes your way.”
If he wins Wimbledon again, Djokovic will equal Roger Federer’s record of eight men’s singles titles at the tournament.
