Masters in Cincinnati is one of the most difficult for Novak Djokovic. He entered the final seven times, but only twice ended up as the winner. He is determined to win the third title this year, for which he revealed the recipe.

The Serb is on a very good path. Tonight, he qualified for the quarterfinals of the competition by defeating Gael Monfils (6:3, 6:2), whom he defeated for the 19th time in as many matches.

“It was the evolution of both of us during the last fifteen or more years that we have been playing against each other – first in juniors, and then in professional competition. In the beginning, I struggled a lot with him, especially physically – when you play with one of the biggest athletes on the Tour, you have to be ready for every ball to come back. He showed that in several points now, especially in the first set”, Djokovic began his analysis of the match and added:

“I managed to comfortably win games on my serve, I served accurately and I forced him to an extra shot. At 4:3 in the first set, he made several unforced errors and gave me a break, and after that I took control, raised the level more and more almost without a mistake in the second set. His game suits me. It’s nice to see him playing well again.”
