Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic canceled his participation in the Masters in Montreal, which is being played as part of the American tour.
Expected, and now official. Djokovic was forced to withdraw from the tournament in Montreal, which will be played from August 7 to 14, due to the American law that limits the stay of unvaccinated foreigners.
As things stand for now, this is only the first of Djokovic’s three retirements, after Montreal there will be the Masters in Cincinnati and the crowning glory – the US Open.
If the situation, or rather the law, does not change soon, Novak will not play in the last Grand Slam of the season, because he has repeatedly repeated his position on vaccination, and therefore does not meet the covid regulations for entering Canada and the USA.
By the way, Djokovic celebrated at the tournament in Montreal in 2007, 2011, 2012, and 2016, and has not played since 2018, when he was stopped in the third round.
Let’s remind you, Djokovic still does not know if he will get permission to perform at the US Open, he recently stated that he is preparing as if he will participate, but his withdrawal does not seem like a good sign before the tournament in New York.
