After a week in which the French Open crowd made negative headlines, Australian tennis player Alex De Minaur took to social media on Saturday to search for a young superfan.
Following his victory over Jan-Lennard Struff, De Minaur embraced the boy and gifted him a towel. He then shared on Instagram that he would need the young fan’s support again in his upcoming match against Daniil Medvedev, on Monday.
Speaking to reporters, De Minaur described the boy as a constant presence throughout the match, cheering him on despite the rain delays and chilly weather. The French Open organizers also shared a photo of the boy on social media.
De Minaur expressed his gratitude, stating that he would have given the young fan anything he wanted, including rackets and shoes, as a token of appreciation for his unwavering support.
