The Danish Tennis Federation have dismissed their sports director and Billie Jean Cup captain, Jens Anker Andersen, after more than a decade with the organisation.
The federation made the announcement on Wednesday morning, confirming that Andersen, who had been with them since 2014, would be leaving his post. Andersen told Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet that he was caught off guard when he received the news on Tuesday morning.
“I’ve been sacked,” he said. “It just has to settle. It was justified by an organisational change, and of course it must be done. Whether I understand it or not doesn’t really matter. There is nothing to be done about it. It’s really hard to put into words. It is too early. I’m not mad, I’d say. It is the way it is. I don’t think anyone is mad at me either.”

The federation have moved to fill the void by creating a new role of deputy director, which will be taken up by Martin Linnet Killemose. He will be responsible for both the sports management side of the organisation and its finances. Killemose arrives having spent the past six years as tennis manager at KB Tennis.
