Can anyone stop Sinner at Wimbledon this year?

Wimbledon gets underway on Monday, with defending champion Jannik Sinner aiming to win the title for a second year in a row. The world number one is one of the favourites after another strong season, while Novak Djokovic will be hoping to make history by winning a record 25th Grand Slam title.

Sinner has been handed a favourable draw and looks well placed to reach the semi-finals. Tommy Paul is expected to be his biggest challenge in the early rounds, as the American has shown excellent form on grass. Daniil Medvedev and Casper Ruud are also in Sinner’s quarter, but both have struggled to produce their best tennis in recent Grand Slam tournaments, especially on grass.

Djokovic also has a good chance of reaching the semi-finals. Although he is in the same half of the draw as Sinner, his own section looks manageable. Felix Auger-Aliassime is the highest seed in Djokovic’s quarter, but the Serbian’s experience and outstanding return of serve make him the favourite to come through.

Ben Shelton has impressed during the grass-court season and is expected to enjoy another strong run at Wimbledon. The American has won the Stuttgart title and reached the quarter-finals in Halle, making him one of the most dangerous players outside the top favourites. Flavio Cobolli could also go deep after a series of strong performances in recent tournaments.

The fourth quarter features another possible meeting between Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz. Fritz has dominated their recent matches, winning the last seven, and his excellent form on grass gives him the edge. If they meet again, the American will be confident of reaching the semi-finals.

The predicted semi-finals are Sinner against Djokovic and Fritz against Shelton. Sinner is tipped to beat Djokovic in what could be the match of the tournament, while Fritz is expected to overcome Shelton.

The final prediction is for Sinner to defeat Fritz and successfully defend his Wimbledon title. With Carlos Alcaraz not in the draw, Djokovic is seen as the only player with a realistic chance of stopping the Italian. However, based on current form, Sinner looks ready to lift the Wimbledon trophy once again.
